Yuri Gagarin First Man in Space Commemorative Coin.

This Medal is minted from the metal of a Soviet space craft actually flown into space.

The Medal is Officially Issued by the Baikonur Cosmodrome, the main Soviet space center located near Leninsk and
launching site of the worlds first manned orbital flight.

The Medal pays tribute to the 30th Anniversary of the First man space and features Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin, the first man
to travel into space - the "Columbus of the Cosmos". It was issued April 12, 1991, the exact 30th Anniversary of his flight aboard Vostok 1.

The Medal bears his profile on its obverse, with Vostok 1 in its single orbit of earth on the reverse - commemorating the
great moment which opened the door to the universe.
