Description:

AVRO 618 10 VH-UXX 2 Original photos.

Following the loss of their Avro 618 Ten VH-UMF Southern Cloud, Australian National Airways Ltd.

(See Australian National Airways Ltd & Australian National Airways Pty Ltd
)

(ANA) abandoned their interstate services and went into liquidation.

 C T P Ulm, one of the principals of ANA, purchased Avro X VH-UMI Southern Moon from the liquidators and had it rebuilt in highly
 modified form for use on route-proving and record-breaking flights.

His hope was to stimulate Government interest in subsidising long-range air services.
  The aircraft was re-registered on 16 June 1933 as VH-UXX Faith in Australia (c/n 231).

On the back in handwriting says "From May developed for Mr J Smith  by a chemist of Footscray  and Seddon
Melbourne 19 -1- 1934". " VH-UXX Flew from Redmond N.S.W. to  New Plymoth New Zealand on 3 - 12 -1933".

Both photos bear the stamp of N P Murphy Dispensing Chemist Footscray.
