Copy of the original negative of "City of Perth" De Havilland DH66 Hercules - G-AUJO

This was the first of four Hercules ordered for the commencement of the Adelaide - Perth air service.
G-AUJO arrived at Fremantle on board the SS Taranaki on 19 April 1929 and cost 60 000 pounds.

On the rear of the photo is hand writing in ink which says.
"West Australian Airways DH66
De Havilland Hercules - the first multi-engine airliner to operate in Australia it flew from Perth - Adelaide".

On the rear of the photo in handwritten pencil is. "Sold to Stephens Aviation, New Guinea, April 1936.  On February 6, 1941, crashed on flight from Solomon to Wau. Pilot Frank Buchanan and his native passenger found with wreckage four days later, dead."
