Founded 24th  February 1947 Trans Oceanic Airways Ltd began operations on 29 May in the same year.

 On 1 July 1952 the company went into liquidation and ceased all operations 15 April 1953.

The licenses, routes and some assets were purchased by Ansett Transport Industries Ltd and were absorbed into Ansett Flying Boat Services Pty Ltd., 20 June 1953.

The company was officially dissolved on 23 June 1962
